What is Service Learning?
Service-Learning is a type of experiential education that combines academic goals with activities that address human and community needs.
Why do Service-Learning?
- To enhance student learning, whether in or outside the classroom
- To serve and to collaborate with non-profit agencies in the Tri-State Area
- To foster a sense of civic responsibility and commitment to the common good
What is the difference between service-learning and community service?
Community service participants volunteer for the primary or sole purpose of meeting the needs of others and bettering the community as a whole. Service-learning meets the needs of the community while enhancing students’ academic achievements.
